okay. listen to me. if you want to keep your red eared sliders happy, get him his OWN place for feeding. keep some fish or other red ears in the tank with him. lastley a HUGE difference in happiness for me was to feed them bananas. they love it! i would recomend geneticaly grown smaller ones because there easier to handle with turtles and they are not wasted.
i hav 2 babys and im going to build a new room for ALL my turtles and its going to be exactually a outdoor ponf with a pond of course, huge basking platform, heated purfectly and an open roof for basking but i can close the roof like a car door at night
its going to cost ALOT of money but i aint doin tht until ther over 8 inches
A friend of mine gave me two baby red eared turtles and it’s been since last april i had them but i never got them a UV light because i just found out about them and they recently start to have they’re eyes a little bit dry and and it gets off after i put them in the water but one of them has seem to stop eating and that same one has been sleeping a lot is it too late? i’m getting their UV light tomorrow and a water heater and i heard to get them eye drops, what else can i do?
I too discourage having turtles as pets as I’ve had a RES for almost 20yrs now! She was bought for me when i was too young to know they aren’t pets! I simply don’t have the means or desire to take care of it anymore. She’s outgrown the artificial environment and appears she’ll live another 20yrs! Where and what will you be doing in 20yrs?? Think about the animal, now huge, sitting in a small tank b/c u thut it was once cute.
@SuperAustralia2010
ive had a RS for 16 years and i enjoy taking care of her even thoughg shes “huge”
@ROYALTYx6

i suggest you dont put it in a pod in the front yard because mine ran away for 3 years when she was a baby so we got 2 tortoises this year and we found her sleeping with the tortoises
